Solution: Xprog 6.12 prompts Failed to install Driver

I have one xprog 6.12 ecu programmer. I close the internet, firewall, and all anti-virus software on my computer and already install Adobe. When I plug the xprog- box programmer, the system prompts me that windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for my xprog, the system cannot find the file specified. It’s Win7. How to fix this problem?

4 steps to install XPROG V6.12 software:

• Click the file “installation.reg”, get the file information to the regedit.
• The file “AdbeRdr11000_zh_CN.exe” must be installed, otherwise the Xprog software will fail to start.
• Plug the Xprog main interface into the computer and install the USB driver.
• Copy the folder “XPROG-BOX6.12” to the desktop, open it, and run the “xprogdesktop.exe”, then open the software.

Windows system required as below:

Operating system: WinXP/ Win7/ Win8
1. Windows system should be windows XP 32bit OR windows 7 64 bit, all the patch software for the windows system should be installed already and the windows properly works well.
2. The windows system should be with at least 2 partitions (except the CD ROM.)
3. Can not be working with the virtual hard disk.

 

Important to know!!!

1. XPROG V6.12 dongle isn't compatible with the older version Xprog.
2. Please close all anti-virus software on your computer, because the anti-virus software will kill Xprog V6.12 driver.
3. Disconnect internet. If not, the internet may damage XPROG hardware.
4. Uninstall all the old version XPROG software before you install V6.12 software because XPROG V6.12 hardware is not compatible with other versions of XPROG software.
5. Never try to UPDATE it, the hardware will be damaged if you try to update it online.

Read atmega64a IC data using Xprog 5.5.5

 I managed to flash with Xprog 5.5.5 software, it is giving error when trying to read but it is able to ind device in xprog 5.5.5.

T6 - RESET
T7 - SCK
T8 - MISO
T9 - MOSI
T10 - GND
T11- VDD

Now only if someone can extract working firmware from atmega64.

 

UPDATE:

I forgot to lock fuse bits: you can update new hardware and it will work with 5.5.5. firmware. Tested

Today I done reading TMS370 with success.

 

Question: Can you confirm that you have downgraded to 5.55 the New Hardware version of Xprog (mine was on Firmware 6.12) to start working again ?

 

Answer:

if it works with version 5.55. Version 6.12 crashed and since I couldn't find the files for the micro atmega64 (version 6.12) on the web, I found 5.55, I loaded them and it ran successfully. But I can't get the eeprom and flash files to bring it to version 6.12.

Xprog Read Flash + eeprom (from CEM Volvo V50)

 Today, we used Xprog clone to Read Flash + eeprom from CEM Volvo V50 with MCU mask 1k79x.on bench successfully.

 

Look at the wiring between CEM Volvo V50 board and Xprog.

Connect to one adjustable power supply which can ensure stable voltage.

just use good power supply 13.5 v, no any special settings on xprogm software to read this 9s12.

1.Read eeprom

Alright, we operate in Xprog, click on "Device" and select type: MCU / MPU, Subtype: Freescale HCISJ12, device:MC9S12 EEPROM

Click on “New” and “Read”.

After reading successfully, click on “Save” to save the data, I name as “eep”.

2.Read Flash

Click on "Device" and select type: MCU / MPU, Subtype: Freescale HCISJ12, device:MC9S12 FLASH.

Click on “New” and “Read”. When it is reading, Xprog device will flash.

After reading successfully, click on “Save” to save the data, I name as “flash”.

You don’t need to look at the color of the line, just look at the definition on the adapter board.

For example, this adapter board has definitions written on it, you can plug in the colored wires and then solder them according to the corresponding lead wires.
