Autel IM608 Recover BMW FEM/BDC after Smart Mode Failure?

 Problem: A user tried to add a key to a 2016 BMW X6 using Autel IM608 with XP400 Pro and GODIAG FEM/BDC Test Platform in Smart Mode. The key reading step failed, and after restarting the process, the BDC module became unresponsive.

Why This Happens:

Smart Mode does not back up the full EEPROM data unless the module is benched. If critical data is missing, the process can permanently damage the module.

Recommended Approach:

• Do not use Smart Mode for BMW FEM/BDC modules.
• Always use Manual Mode to read and save EEPROM data first.

If the EEPROM is Already Corrupted:

1.Write the original EEPROM data back if available.

2.If not, use a compatible EEPROM dump from an identical model or replace the BDC.

3.Reconnect the module, open Expert Mode in Autel, and run the BDC repair function (with external power connected).

4.If repair fails, try another known-good EEPROM file and repeat.

5.Once repaired, restore coding and program keys using Expert Mode only.

Critical EEPROM Reading Tip:

• Always read manually via system selection.
• After reading, take photos of the first and last data sections, then read again and compare. Repeat until the data is consistent.
• Only write a verified good file to avoid corruption.

Autel Diagnostic IMMO ADAS TPMS Software Updates Mar. 2022

 Here we collected latest Autel software updates in March, 2022. Covering diagnostic, immobilizer, ADAS, TPMS and CV products. Make sure your Autel tools are up to dated to catch new features and car coverage.

Diagnostic Updates

- Added & fixed functions for Benz, Honda, BMW, Toyota.

For Benz, added ECU information and trouble codes for models with the following chassis: 206, 223 and 232.

Optimized the software structure.

For Honda, added online topology for models in the US region. Added 26 special functions including coolant air bleeding, electric water pump test, static camera aiming, motor order position sensor learning and high voltage battery diagnostics.

Fixed a bug for the steering and learning special function.

For BMW, supports diagnostics for models up to November 2021. Added manual oil reset and optimize the injector function.

For Toyota, added system selection in Thai and Vietnamese. Added the radar alignment special function.

Other diagnostic updates include PSA, DFPV and JLR.

IMMO Updates

- Added for VW, Renault, Nissan, Suzuki, Subaru, Hyundai, Kia, Fiat, Jeep, Ford, Land Rover and more.

VW now has supported to read immo data function for Tiguan, immo 4 instrument cluster. Read immo data for 7GB ECU and obtain immo data by reading ECU data via dump. For 9GB ECM was added for Magnetic Morelli.

Renault has added password-free smart key learning and partial replacement functions for Duster 2018 and up.

Nissan has added immo functions for 2021 models including Ultima and Armada. Along with all smart keys lost for the new X-trail which was the first release of this password-based function.

Suzuki has added partial replacement functions for models including Swift and Olivio. Added immo functions for new models including the XL7.

Subaru had added immo functions for 2021 models Legacy and Outback which is the first release of this function.

Fiat has added release disable key function, partial replacement. Along with a multitude of immo related functions such as read immo data, make a dealer key, key learning and more. For a variety of models and years marking the first release of these functions on these models.

Jeep has added RFH replacement function for new immo parts from 2016–2020 Renegade and Compass. More related functions including read pin were also added for 2021 and up Renegade. Marking the first release of these functions.

Ford has added parameter reset function for EDGE, Ranger, Lincoln MKX, MKC and Continental. Immo functions are now supported for a Lincoln Corsair up to 2022.

Land Rover has added RFA KVM learning function for 2010–2014 model.

ADAS Updates

- Added for Hyundai, Kia.

ACC calibration, LDW calibration, BSD calibration and other functions for 27 models from 2021–2022. Including Palisade, Tucson, Sonata, Santafe, plug-in Hybrid and Sonata Hybrid.

Kia has added ACC calibration, LDW calibration, BSD calibration and other functions for 49 models from 2021–2022. Including Serato, Forte, K5, Nero, Soul Sorrento HEV and Sorrento PHEV.

TPMS Updates

TPMS updates include optimization of programming activation on the 906Pro-TS.

For ITS600, added diagnostic support for 8 models in the EU region. Including Porsche Panamera, Isuzu D-max and Suzuki Chimney 3. Diagnostic support for the US region includes 17 models. Including Toyota Highlander, Dodge RAM2500–3500 pickup and Dodge RAM 3500 DRW Alloy.

For TS508WF, TS508& TS408, added diagnostic support for Geely Atlas pro in the EU, Toyota Highlander in the US. And self-learning function for Hyundai, Kia 2018–2022. Menu for 2018–2022 Dodge RAM was also added.

Autel IM608 makes BMW electric windows work again

 My BMW/MiniFRM module doesn't respond, and now the electric windows don't work. It's not like previous cars could use hand-operated switches. So I decided to read the EEPROM and rewrite the corrupted data.

 

Tools used: Autel MaxiIM IM608

 

FRM Info

Chip: MC9S12XEQ384

Mask: 3M25J

 

Path

On Autel IM608, go to

Programmer>>Chip (EEPROM,MCU,ECU)>>Chip read & write>>Other>>BMW>>E - SERIES>FRM>XEQ384>RW

Step 1. Read D-FLASH, EEPROM, P-FLASH

Check "Schematic diagram".

Connect APA109, IM608, XP400Pro and FRM circuit board by diagrams.

Go to “Set” to check if we’ve got 5 voltage, and turn on read/write/earse validation.

Then try to “Read” D-FLASH.

Empty, that’s why it is done.

Read Partition. Also empty.

EEPROM is also empty.

So we just read and save P-FLASH as a backup.

Usually this part is intact.

Step 2. Write partition

Go to D-FLASH and select “Write partition”. (So we can get a new EEPROM to write data in.)

Set EEPROM as 16, which will give you four kilobytes of memory on EEPROM.

Set D-FLASH as 0.

Step 3. Write EEPROM back

Then I find an EEPROM file with the same part number (3456395) on Google.

Of course this EEPROM belongs to a a different car, VIN…but it allows FRM to boot.

Transfer the data file to IM608 Key Programmer.

Go to “EEE” (EEPROM), and select “Write”.

Load the EEPROM file we just found.

Write successfully.

Go back to read D-FLASH and EEPROM.

FLASH is also empty, but we have the data in EEPROM.

Step 4 . Check FRM on car

Restore FRM back, and see if it boots well.

Use an Autel Diagnostic Tool to check windows quickly.

The wrong chassis means our FRM has communications.

Before we have a DTC about FRM error.

Diagnosis>>Control unit>>Body>>FRM2 (Footwell Module 2)>>Read codes

Now our FRM comes back.

And then the rest work is to program the module the car because it comes from a different car.

Notice: IM608 doesn’t support BMW X1 FRM program.

Autel IM608 does instrument replacement for 2014 Ford Fiesta

 Autel IM608 test report: Late 2014 Ford Fiesta instrument cluster dead - cloned across to donor cluster all done and back in the vehicle in less than 30 mins.

Normally I would have cracked open the VVDI and laptop, but so simple with Autel.

Question: So what exactly does it mean in step3? Will lead to data loss if you write?

Operation guide:

1. Only for "Read" and "Write" supported at unencrypted status.
2. If the EEE or D-FLASH reads the data again after it has been written, and the data are inconsistent, please first execute "Write partition", and then carry out normal read and write after the operation of "Write partition" is successful.
3. "Write partition" supports for setting partition, but will lead to EEE or D-FLASH data loss.

Answer: it's all about the prep - when reading make sure Autel validates the read for both files. On some occasions the data could be different on the read so there is another process to complete if this happens. So that's why you get this message.

I mean " validates" is that sometimes the file read can be incorrect so to make sure you are working with the best data you can ask your Autel to re read the data and check it against the first read. it's a clickable option so Autel will check twice for you. Normally on read, write, schematic etc page it's last option then drop down menu.

How to determine if IM608 can use IMMO function in your car

 To check Autel IM608 "key programming" function or "IMMO part replacement" function is supported your car or not, you can go to function viewer APP to check whether it is supported or not.(Mainly shown by pictures)

Autel IM608 supports via OBD to Volvo xc90 2004 key programming

Volvo key programmer to use: Autel MaxiIM IM608

 

First do scan of the vehicle by OBD - Diagnostic - And delete all errors. With IM tool.
Long time ago I had to do this first.
Tried immo section first. Second key would not adapt. After this it did disable the alarm (faulty remote), and finally key got programmed.

Then go to immo section with IM tool by OBD.
Doing immo scan check by OBD? With IM tool. What does it say.
The old working key. Should be able to sort it out by OBD.

If this is not working.
Then remove the CEM, and write back first original dump.
Do diagnostic by OBD. Delete all errors.
Test if car starts.

If the car starts. Add the spare key by OBD, instead.

2010 BMW 328i AKL OBD Cas3++ ISTAP by Autel IM608

 Success: Autel MaxiIM IM608 program key for 2010 BMW 328i when all keys lost via OBD Cas3++ ISTAP.

Q: On istap is it posible to do 64attemps or no?

Im not sure if 64 is only for cas3++

Going to update CAS:

1. The current CAS belongs to the CAS++ (ISTAP) version, need to be updated before OBD access.
2. Suggest: Manually backup the original car FLASH and EEPROM data before performing this function.

Autel IM608 performs All Keys Lost Programming on Key ID46

 I have one Autel MaxiIM IM608, and one day I used it to program a Key ID 46 for Mitsubishi Outlander 2007, all keys lost, this is the key that I want to program:

Because I don't have the correct chip to program, I got error "The key couldn't be registered because the key was wrong type. ".

 

Then I consult in the Autel MaxiIM IM608 group, many locksmiths gave me advice, among them I pick up two here, hope it helps you too if you have the same problem.

 

1. Make sure the 46 chip has Mitsubishi data inside it. Not a normal 7936.

Connect programmer and turn ignition on when prompted. If you put an unprogrammed key into it and turn ignition on you will get immo lockout for 35 minutes.

 

2. For the key that you want to program, Xhorse Condor Mini Plus is able to cut the key for you, if you don't have one Condor, ask someone for help.

　　I use this function with odis gecko is same but if you not dealer or independant not necessary to use… with Autel and with vvdi and lot of some other tool All key lost function change CS…All professional locksmith know it…
