Both Launch X431 ECU & TCU Programmer and X431 X-Prog3 with PC Adapter can clone Audi AL381 gearbox TCU on PC software. They support the same function. The main difference is that the PC Adapter needs to work with X-PROG3 key programmer and use different PC software.
Here takes X431 ECU & TCU Programmer as an example.

X-PROG3 Adapter Cable 2 (VL381)
How to do?
Download and install PC software
Connect X431 ECU Programmer and computer via a USB cable
If the device is the first time to be used, it needs to be activated with the serial number and activation code (the activation code can be obtained from the envelope of the X431 ECU Programmer), and follow the prompt to operate directly.
Run X-431 ECU & TCU Programmer PC software
Input VL381 in the search box, and quickly find the ECU is Audi A4 2007 ALT 2000 130 VL381 TC1766.
Click the ECU to enter the operation page
Follow the "Direct connection of diagram" to connect X-431 ECU Programmer and VL381 gearbox TCU via the X-Prog3 Adapter Cable 2
Identify the TCU chip info by clicking "Connect"
Read EEPROM data and save the related original data
Then read the FLASH data and save the original data as well
Disconnect the original VL381 gearbox, and connect Launch X431 ECU programmer to a new gearbox
Select the corresponding EEPROM and FLASH data to write into the new gearbox
Write successfully, click "Disconnect"
Finally, click "Read ECU information" to read out the VIN, ECU SN.
