If you remove the cas3 yourself,
You will need a programmer to read data.
R270 from China is cheap, and works fine.
Then you still need to have a tool that writes the data in your new key.
And Cut a key.
If you take all this effort, the risk, the time, the money.
Consider either find a locksmith that dares to to do this job by obd.
Or remove the cas yourself and send it, to a locksmith.

1) Continuous 13 volts with a voltage stabilizer.
2) Voltage it’s one thing you need to consider.
3) Voltage… I done lots of them no problems
4) The voltage drop can be the reason it fails.
5) Voltage is the biggest thing. Best way to do it is on the bench to be safe.
6) The best way to prevent an issue with the downgrade is to not do it via OBD. Or pull the CAS out and read/save the eeprom prior…. It takes 5-10 minutes to do with some practice. Read CAS with programmer .. make key .. put all back ..job done ..
7) Make backup eeprom and flash via vvdi prog programmer and than do downgrade or whatever you want
So if you need to do with VVDI2 via OBD. Go and get a battery stabilizer. It will work.
The best way is to backup eeprom and write key on bench.

Let's see FVDI with CAS 3+ in action
When you go in CAS Keys special function, we will get a new window with decrypted raw data of registered keys on CAS (Car Access System)
As we can see on picture, after reading CAS Keys data, we can easily make new key by OBD.
Either by TAG key tool (antenna) or directly in Ignition Switch, its just a matter of 3 mouse clicks.
Any existing key on that position (for example, we choosed Key 1) will be overwritten by the new key.
To know which position is occupied, we must look at Serial Number and Key status. If Serial Number is ffffffff and Key Status is 7608 means that position is Free and no key registered.
But instead, if Serial Number contains data and Key Status shows 2B00 or 4B00, means there is already a key registered on that position.
2B00 = Transponder key
4B00 = Remote key
7608 = No key
CAS Info screen tells you about key in ignition, and gives u info such as if a key is enabled or disabled.

Just an update.
I bought a VVDI BMW.
The R56 mini was CAS3+ not encrypted so I didn't need to downgrade, so less risky.
Added the key perfectly.

Procedure:
There are 4 pieces of DVD to install, let’s install them one by one ((DVD0 DVD1 DVD2 DVD3). After that to open Scania multi 2019.05 to check Spare Parts Catalog & Service Information.
Part 1: Install DVD0
Insert the DVD 0 into the computer, right click on “DVD RW Drive (E:) Multi 6.0″ and choose ” Install or run program from your media”.
Accept the license to continue the installation;

Install;
Please wait while Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Setup processes the current operation.
Installation progress.
Install Adobe Reader X (10.1.4) until complete.
Installation process is finished.
Part 2: Install DVD 1
Insert DVD 1 into the computer, click on “Run Setup.exe”.
Accept the license to continue the installation;
Next;
Extract files from archive E.
DVD 1 is installed successfully, insert DVD 2 with your servinfo language. Close this dialogue before removing DVD 1.
Part 3: Install DVD 2
Insert DVD 2 into the computer, click on “Run Setup.exe”.
Accept the license to continue the installation;
Next;
Extract files from archive E.
DVD 2 is installed successfully, insert DVD 3 illustrations. Close this dialogue before removing DVD 2.
Part 4: Install DVD 3
Insert DVD 3 into the computer, click on “Run Setup.exe”.
Accept the license to continue the installation;
Next;
Extract 65465 files from archive E.
DVD illustrations is installed successfully. Installation process is finished. Close this dialogue before removing DVD illustrations.
Part 5: Open Multi.
A dialogue pops up saying “Din version av Scania Multi… korrupt installation”.
Reason: the scania multi software version is 2019.05, please reset the computer date to 2019.
Again, open Multi, then reset the language you need.
Then close Multi and open it again.
Now you are ready to choose the Vehicle/ engine type and check the technical information.
Done!
